Enrollment Restrictions

Enrollment in some courses is restricted to certain student populations. Restrictions are listed in Schedule Builder and the Class Search ToolSchedule Builder does not allow you to enroll in these courses unless you are eligible. If the course is restricted to majors, non-majors, seniors, upper division or class, you may request permission to waive the restriction from the instructor or department that offers the course. If the restriction is waived, the department can issue you a PTA number.

If you recently submitted a change of major form, Schedule Builder does not allow you to enroll in courses until approved and your student record has been updated with your new major. You may request permission to waive the restriction from the instructor or department that offers the course. If the restriction is waived, the department can issue you a PTA number.

Schedule Builder does not allow you to add a course that conflicts with another course on your schedule. If you wish to add a course that has a time conflict with another course in your schedule, you need to obtain permission from the instructors of both courses involved in the conflict. If you receive permission, you may request permission to waive the restriction from the instructor or department that offers the course. If the restriction is waived, the department can issue you a PTA number.

All Freshman Seminar (FRS) sections are restricted to freshmen until after Pass Two. Students only receive credit for one seminar per quarter. Each seminar is devoted to a different topic. For course descriptions, consult the First-Year Seminar website.
