Registration Pass Times

Disability Services

For students with disabilities, registration assistance is available through the Student Disability Center. If you have a documented disability-based need for assistance with registration, please contact the Student Disability Center in 160 South Silo at 530-752-3184 (voice) or 530-752-6833 (TTY).

Undergraduate Students

Registration takes place during two intervals called “passes.” Undergraduate students are assigned an appointment time during each of the two passes. The two-pass registration system ensures that all students have access to the courses that are most critical to their curricula and attain full-time status and that access to registration is distributed fairly throughout the student body.

Access to registration for undergraduate students is by priority groups. Priority groups are established according to the number of units completed the quarter preceding your registration appointment. Appointment times are then assigned to the priority groups. Within each priority group, appointment times are randomly assigned. First priority is given to disabled students and students in special programs regardless of the number of units completed.

Under no circumstances will your appointment times be rescheduled. Students can register during their appointment time or during Open Hours after their appointment.

Undergraduate Class Level is determined as follows:

Undergraduate Class Level Units
Freshman Level 0 - 44.99
Sophomore Level 45 - 89.99
Junior Level 90 - 134.99
Senior Level 135 and above

Undergraduate students can enroll in up to 17 units during Pass 1, 19 units during Pass 2, and 28.5 units during Schedule Adjustment. If the number of units you request exceeds the total amount allowed during that pass, SISWeb will not allow you to add the course you added last.

Register early during your appointment time so you have the best chance of getting the courses you want. Your appointment time lasts four hours. Once your appointment time has come and gone, regardless of whether you registered, you may register during Open Hours in the evenings and weekends. Open Hours are:

  • Evenings (M–F) 8:00 p.m.–midnight (PST)
  • Weekends 10:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. (PST)

You cannot enroll in courses or access Open Hours until after your appointment time.

Graduate Students

Graduate students are not assigned appointment times. You may enroll in classes any time during Registration operating hours.

Graduate students may not enroll in more than 16 units of upper division and graduate level courses combined, or in more than 12 units of graduate level coursework, without approval of the Associate Dean of Students in Graduate Studies.
