The newsletter contains important dates for the term in addition to information about OUR processes that you may not be aware of but are interested in learning about. If you have a topic that you would like to see covered, please contact us at registrar@ucdavis.edu. We would love to hear from you.

For your reference, Newsletters are archived on the Office of the University Registrar's website in the Faculty and Staff section. Note: Because email programs vary in how they display this email newsletter, you may find the website version allows for easier printing.

Do You Know That There is a New Course Search Tile Available in myucdavis?

You will need to log in and add it to your view to see it.

It searches off of, CRN, Subject, Title, and Professor's first and last name. There is a button for courses that have CRNs, to take you to Schedule Builder so you can see more information about the course. When we eventually release Schedule Builder 2, this button will add the course to the student's schedule
or show them more info on the course.

Automated Prerequisite Checking Update

Current Status

  • Starting with fall quarter 2017, Automated Prerequisite Checking in Schedule Builder is fully implemented for all colleges.
  • By default, it will be "on" for all undergraduate courses for future terms (including summer sessions).
  • A training video and other resources have been added to the prerequisite webpages to assist with the process.

Known Issues/Concerns

  • Equivalent courses are not currently being checked by the system.
    • Hybrid 'Y' courses and Online 'V' courses included.
  • Some students are contacting the University Registrar's Office to dispute denied petitions. We have advised them to speak with their instructor regarding their concerns. They are also directed to work with their academic major advisor, if they need to readjust their schedules.
  • Once the instructor drops the student through Photo Rosters, that student can no longer register or waitlist for the course again for that term.
    • The only way to add the student back in to the course is through a PTA.
    Future Development
    • System ability to recognize equivalent courses for prerequisites.
    • Messaging and communication tools for the instructor and student regarding petitions or commenting on a petition.
A survey will be sent out around the 20th day of instruction for the campus to provide feedback.

New Staff Changes

  • Holly Schroder is new to the OUR (and UC Davis) and is the Student Services & AggieCard Office Manager.
