College of Engineering

Each student is assigned to a professor for academic and career advising. Initial assignments are made through respective department offices at the beginning of your first term on campus. Departments also have staff advisers who provide services specifically for students in that department. For more information, consult your departmental office.

We recommend that you meet individually with your faculty or staff adviser on a regular basis to review your advising worksheet. Faculty advisers primarily provide guidance on judgmental matters such as choice of elective courses, career decisions, etc. Questions about lower division or general college requirements may be directed to your faculty or staff adviser, peer advisers, or to the Undergraduate Office. Questions about upper division programs may be directed to your adviser, the advising coordinator, staff adviser in your department or peer advisers. The departmental advising coordinators are:

  • Biological Systems Engineering—Raul Piedrahita/Leigh Ann Empie, 3056 Bainer Hall
  • Biomedical Engineering—Angie Louie/Christal Wintersmith, 3317 Genome and Biomedical Science Facility
  • Chemical Engineering and Materials Science—Ahmet Palazoglu/Brad Horton, 3104 Bainer Hall
