The UC Davis General Catalog is the primary source of curricular information for enrolled students and for people interested in attending UC Davis. The catalog includes detailed course listings for all academic departments in the three colleges and the four professional schools, along with the requirements for all of the minors and the major degree programs offered. It also covers admission, registration, and academic regulations and describes student services and activities available on campus and in the Davis community.

Clarksburg artist Roger Berry created Portrait of a DNA Sequence to celebrate the pioneering cellular and molecular research taking place in the campus' state-of-the-art Life Sciences Addition building, completed last year. Berry, known for his signature use of glass and water, has done other site-specific sculptures for the UC Davis Medical Center, the Crocker Art Museum and the California Department of Justice headquarters, all in Sacramento. The work was commissioned by the Division of Biological Sciences and underwritten by a $50,000 gift.
Portrait of a DNA Sequence is the latest addition to the campus's growing collection of works of art in public places. The UC Davis Art in Public Places Program brings to campus a wide variety of significant art specifically intended to challenge and expand the viewers' thinking beyond that of the usual day-to-day experience. Funding for the program is provided by private sources. Information about the other works depicted on the cover is provided below.
