Thompson, M.S., Extension Specialist </UL> <P> <B>Mission.</B> The Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering is dedicated to the advancement of engineering for biological systems. Specifically, our goals are to advance the science, teach the principles and application, and disseminate the knowledge of engineering needed to efficiently produce, distribute, and process biological products, such as food, feed, and fiber, while conserving natural resources, preserving environmental quality, and ensuring the health and safety of people. <P> <B>Objectives. </B>We educate students in the fundamentals of mathematics, physical and biological sciences, and engineering, balanced with the application of principles to practical problems. We teach students to develop skills for solving engineering problems in biological systems through use of appropriate analysis, synthesis, and engineering design techniques. We prepare students for entry into engineering practice and graduate education, as well as engagement in life-long learning.
