One lower division course may be substituted for upper-division study in any of these areas. Other appropriate substitutions may be made for the listed course options above with the prior consent of the major adviser.  
Honors Program. The Honors Program is encouraged for Art History majors who are considering attending graduate school. To be eligible for the program, a stu-dent must have a grade point average of 3.700 in the major or consent of the major adviser. In addition to meeting the standard major requirements, the honors student completes one undergraduate proseminar (course 190 or 190A-H), and writes an honors thesis (course 194H). Students participating in this Program are candidates for Departmental recommendation for graduation with High or Highest Honors.
